Great exterior window shading idea!

Remodeling a 60s home. How could one make these look appropriate on the exterior of a red brick ranch? I don't want them coming off looking like attached slatted chairs, but the house needs something to shade the windows! Would love to paint the exterior, but that's not feasible. Thanks for any suggestions!
