Arctic White or Polar White for Kitchen Cabinets?

Does anyone have experience with Arctic White Shiloah cabinets? My current kitchen cabinets are painted with BM China White, and I've always felt it's too creamy and not the crisp white I was hoping for. We are re-doing our cabinets with Shiloh and pairing it was our existing lagos countertops (kind of a concrete looking counter but with more green-ish warm tones) and white subway tile backsplash. The Polar looks lighter, but similar to the China White when I look at a small sample in my kitchen. But will the Arctic be way too cold?

What look are you going for? The Artic white is the true white and will go with cool tones - other whites, grays, etc. The Artic would look good with Carrera marble or a carrera lookalike. The Polar white is the off-white and will go with slightly warmer tones. I would always gravitate toward the Polar white as I like warm tones.

My husband and I are having color differences. :) I like cool whites and crisp look (it's the photographer in me?). He likes warmer. We have a lot of warm gray in our house, but it's just that. Gray. We have white subway tile, not sure we're going to change that. Our counter looks concrete ish, but slightly warm.

If you have warm gray and not cool gray tones in the house, the Polar white would work fine. It does not appear to be yellowish white from what I can tell. I think you will like the Shiloh cabinets. They are well made and the finish on them is good. Enjoy.

I know this is an older thread, but my name is also Caroline, and I have the exact same dilemma. I'm wondering if you went with Polar and how you feel about them.

We are using a Carrara marble island with a dark gray quartz perimeter top, with Carrara marble on the backsplash, and I can't decide between Polar and Arctic for the cabinets. Since I plan to match the trim throughout the house to the kitchen cabinets, I'm afraid Arctic will be too cool, but I definitely don't want super warm cabinets. Planning to use Repose Gray and similar colors for walls, which are technically warmer grays, but still - so stuck on the cabinet color selection! They ordered our cabinets yesterday, and I ordered Polar, but there may still be time to switch the order if needed.

I would LOVE to hear how yours turned out!! :)

@Caroline McCool - I am in the same dilemma right now! What did you decide to go with? And if Polar, are you happy? I’m worried Polar will not be white enough for our house, but Arctic looks so stark on the sample board! Thanks fot any advice!

@iamcaroline What did you decide for your kitchen? Do you have any pictures to share? Thanks!

Hi Kim! We ended up going with Arctic after all, and I really like it, especially since we did a mix of Carrara marble and gray quartz. I think I would have loved the polar, however, if we had all marble or if we had done a mix of marble and wood countertops. Here are some photos of our finished kitchen. Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Caroline!!Can you please share which island countertop you went with? I plan to have Arctic White perimeter kitchen cabinets with a Pewter colored island. I lean toward transitional/contemporary. I'm debating between the Calcutta Nuvo or the Stauario Maximus quartz countertops from Caeserstone. I'm afraid that the kitchen will look 'too white' if I go with the Calcutta Nuvo.

Also, Caroline, what color are your walls painted? Nice job!

Hannah, I’m not sure if your question was for the original poster named Caroline or for me :), but since I posted the photos, I’m guessing you were asking me...we have Carrara marble on the island.

Caroline McCool — can you please share with me what paint trim you used for the crown molding. I am struggling find a Sherwin Williams color match to my Shiloh arctic white cabinets.

Hi! I’m so sorry I’m just seeing this, but our builder just took a cabinet with him to the paint store and had them match it for the trim.
