Zinnias

Hi everyone! I've got zinnia questions and three photos below.

Here's the situation:

I started some zinnias from seed indoors in an AeroGarden. I transplanted them outdoors in May, some in a container, some in the ground. They were transplanted when they were about 3 inches tall. One photo is of a zinnia in the ground, one photo is in a container -- not too much difference in appearance.

The photo on the seed packet (also pictured) looks much different than the actual flowers. The actual flowers still look nice, but they're not as "full." Is this typical with zinnias? Or did this happen because they were transplanted?

On a side note, I did plant some zinnia seeds into the ground in May but none of them came up.
