I would select a light greenish tan, which should work well with red brick. Take a look at Sherwin-Williams SW6155 Rice Grain.

When I choose colors I bring home a variety of samples then check them against all the existing finishes: floors, trim, sofa, wood, etc. I eliminate a few then check the final ones through the day and night to see how they change. Once a couple of selections have been chosen, buy samples and test them out either directly on the wall or on scraps of wood.

I personally like a warm palette (yellow undertone) vs cool (blue undertone) but it all depends on what you already have.
