That beautiful Alaska White granite island was 68" x 36", allowing sitting accommodation on the sides and back.

P.S.:When adding large overhangs in a island like that, brackets are highly recommended to support the extra granite weight.

I actually do have a question...I'm torn between Alaska white for the parameter of my kitchen (cc40 cabinets) and Metallica for the island (chocolate brown maple stain)...would you pair those 2?
Or we are going to choose Titanium for the whole kitchen...your suggestion would be appreciated!

I would give you a general suggestion on that matter...

Granite slabs and the coloration of the granite itself varies a lot depending on the slab you are using and pairing different movements and colors is always a tricky task. Unless you have a little bit of the designer eye on you and get to see exactly the slab you are using (strongly suggested) and are capable to visualize how everything will tie together, I will stick with a simple combination.

Having that said, Alaska white is a very pretty exotic stone and I would rather mix with something more solid in color, like an Absolute Black, Black Galaxy or any solid color that will match any of the shades found on your specific piece.

I am not familiar with the Metallica granite (or I might know it called by a different name), but I would personally play safe. We had customers mixing different colors before trying to go bold and one specifically come to my mind and he did not like the results afterwards. At that time we had a hard time finding the exact match for one of the colors he decided to carry away throughout the kitchen, but I would say he was lucky because we were able get him something very similar after awhile looking for the color. The extra cost could have been much worse if we hadn't find it (and in the natural stone world it is a real possibility) and in that case he would have to replace the entire kitchen, or much worse... live with it!

I hope I helped you some in making a better decision! Nothing wrong about going bold, just try to get all the pieces of the puzzle together (bring some cabinets & wall color samples closer to the granite) before making a very expensive mistake. Hopefully, the Metallica is a simple color and in that case I would say: go ahead with it! a little mix is much more fun...
