PC, many of the people viewing the Design Dilemma will voice comments and have absolutely no experience with ever doing a kitchen & therefore the info is useless. Just like it's useless to ask a question about your dying hostas on the Design Dilemma, when the question should be posted on the Hosta Forum http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/hosta

The Kitchen Forum was the part of GardenWeb that got purchased by Houzz in the last year. It holds more than a decade of info regarding everything having to do with kitchens, materials & equipment. There are some very learned people on that forum that provide guidance and info.

I would either select a cream/beige colored cover to blend with the backsplash, or if you wanted to do something in an rubbed bronze to match the tile going over the stove.

They can paint light switch covers to match tile. I suggest that. You don't want them to be seen. You want them to blend. Good job on the kitchen.

The bronze ones shown above could work with your look too. Beverly, this is just a fun design site. Some are designer and some are just homeowners who have been there done that. It's not very nice to put others opinion down. We can all give advice. The homeowner takes what she needs, simple. Sometimes. You just need a fresh pair of eyes, to point out mistakes. We all make them. That's part of it.

I'm leaning toward the blending in: the backsplash and plaque were really expensive...I think almond/ivory/cream-colored plates or painting the plates to match may be the way to go so that the beauty of the stone and plaque is the focus.

There are "stone looking" switch plates that will match your backsplash tiles, the manufacturer is Questech; they are available in many tile retailers.

No reason to draw attention to the outlets.

I had all my outlets mounted under my cabinets so they didn't show on my travertine basket weave backsplash. The only light switches are on a wall with dry wall and I found travertine switch plates so they look nice.
