If its one of the yellow small Mangoes you should have no trouble getting fruit in a pot after 4-5 years. If you planted a seed of the large type..Longer I'm sure.

Mid 20's are usually death to young tree's,and put a big hurt on older tree's as well. Do your best to keep temps above freezing and in that warm wet climate they will grow fast. Even in pots.

I've seen plenty of grafted mangotree's from about a year old with fruit. Depends on the climate i guess.

But if growing mango is impossible then grow good peaches. Or grow both and see what does best.

i want to put it in ground. i have a greenhouse, but my back is too bad to move huge pots.

i have one in a 10 gallon, about 4ft tall or more. its a Florigon from seed. it survived 26F for a few hours with minor leaf damage, but it doesnt mean it will fruit. those temps might kill the flowers or small fruit (i dunno when that variety flowers)

I have a couple of Ataulfo mango growing from seed. they are the small yellow ones found at most stores. usually called Champagne mango. i know they grow them in Mexico for market. they taste pretty good too for a store mango.

I was hoping someone who lived here, or at least in zone 9 could share experience.
