The room that never ends

We have this vaulted room where the upstairs loft also overlooks it. We are trying to figure out two things.

1. Paint ideas - the kitchen is a pale yellow and our master bedroom which can be seen from the couch are tons of a grey purple. So both colors are in the cooler tone spectrum. The issue I'm running into is that the wall with the TV shares the same wall as up in the loft, entryway and would have to be followed through on all the hallways to follow through.

2. How to decorate this room. This wall with the TV is massive and very blah. We are thinking of replacing the lighting with flush mount lights.

I think it has the potential to be a great space. With this kind of room layout, it is tempting to put the sofa in the corner to maximize space. However, the issue in doing so is that the traffic flow runs in front of the sofa and the lines of the sofa visually compete with the lines of the stairs. Although you will sacrifice a little room in the sitting area, I would suggest pulling the sofa in from both walls and, once you finalize your wall/room colors getting a patterned area rug that incorporates all colors to anchor the new sitting space. As far as paint color, I would recommend a muted light gold to make the space feel open and warm and to complement the floors. As far as artwork, I would suggest removing the 2 wall sconces since they are small and isolated in their current positions and then adding some large artwork by the stairs as well as around/above the T.V. (with no one piece being larger than the T.V./stand).

Stand in each corner and shoot the opposite corner. Standard pix; no pano shots. When you run out of upload space, comment again and add more.

I think your paint color needs to work with the stone fireplace.

My only caveat about using the stone to pick the paint color is that we want to update that at some point in the future with maybe a stacked stone.

As for the furniture arrangement, center the rug with the FP and put the sofa on it with at least the front 1/3 of the sofa on the rug, for some grounding. Once you do that, take a photo so we can see how much room we have for other pieces. Try just one of your drum tables, and consider replacing them with a more traditional coffee table - perhaps picking up the iron of the stair railings and a bit of rusticity to work with the FP. I'd remove the sconces entirely and shop some of the online resources for giant art to fill both walls, one above the TV and the other above the door to the kitchen. Replace the fan with a great chandelier with another nod to the iron railings.
