I like the dark blue for your area as well. The Caribbean aquas would seem a little out of place to me but the deep blues of the ocean would fit right in.

those are lovely... but our pool is cement with a liner... unless we paint something on it before they put water back in.

I'm hoping that painting an alligator on the bottom is a joke, or that you don't have kids or grandkids of a young age. I can just see them now, traumatized for life thinking there is an alligator in the pool and mom or grandma made me swim anyway haha oh geez. :D I remember thinking as a little kid that if I passed the black line into the deep end there would be sharks. That was without a mosaic picture – yay for young imaginations! I would go with the dark blue because of the modern style of your home. The underwater light fixtures could be a fabulous stainless steel to complete the look. If you have a more nautical look you could go withbrass, but the dark blue will meet both design needs. During the day the sun will make it clear that your dark blue pool is clean and clear, and underwater lights will help you see in the evening. I would recommend night swimming, especially with kids. It feels like they are "breaking the rules" without having to actually break any - way more fun! Good luck!

We need to have our pool redone soon, so I've been looking at the color options. I do like the light greyish blue, which I think is pretty, but I think light aqua/turquoise looks the most refreshing, and makes me want to jump in.

*today* was the reason people have pools. sunny and mid 80s, swam all morning, then perfect on shore breeze at the beach late this afternoon, and into the pool again when we got home. looking forward to it being spiffier for next summer.

What did you decide nnigrt? Dark, medium, or light? We'd love to see before and after photos :)

we spend the morning schlepping to stone yards looking at cambridge pavers and unilock products. wow it was too hot for that job! i really like the dark, might go for something between medium and dark.

Will a darker pool liner heat up your pool? I'm sure that is not a problem in RI. Just a thought

that would be a good thing. right now the pool is open 3 months and only 2 weeks are warm enough to swim. but it's really nice to sit by under an umbrella, so i'd never consider filling it in or something.

no we have never had one but its on our 'ask the pool guy' list. we've also been wondering about pumping water through roof panels.

we also need a new cover, ours is about 25 years old and it wouldnt hold an elephant like it did when it was new.

If you're only getting 2 weeks a year that you can swim, I'd definitely go w/ a dark color, and some kind of pool heater. We recently bought a solar blanket and will test it out this fall. I'm hoping to extend swim season into Thanksgiving.

well, others in the family go in more but arthritic me likes nice n warm water.....getting the temperature up in june would be great. after labor day the leaves start blowing in and summer is over. thats when the ocean is warm enough to enjoy.

You would love it in S. FL. My light blue pool was 89* last week. :) My favorite temp is about 87*. That's when my skin temp, and water temp feel the same. It's the strangest, and coolest sensation.

we were lucky to have a strong el nino year, giving us a warm december, to do our pool, they've been working right along in RI, and our liner went in last weekend. just got some updated pics from the workers, the new cover will go on before we are down to see it.

we decided on a sand color liner (you can see the color above the water line, the water is low getting ready for winter) which seems to look nicely dark in the shadow, i expect it will look lighter in full summer sun; we're happy.

The pictures you have shared are very beautiful but you need to ensure that there is no mold or mildew growth to maintain the beauty of the space. If there is any, then you should go for mold remediation at the earliest.

If you are in this position and not sure which color to choose for this liner then there is someething very important for you to consider to help you narrow down the options. Vinyl liners are printed on one of 3 stock vinyl sheets - white, light blue & dark blue. Generally, the darker the liner pattern, the darker the stock that they use. The reason why this is so important is that one day you will start to wear away that pattern on your vinyl. That is part of how they are (and can be sped up dramatically with poor chemical balancing). If you have a blue liner printed on white stock, as the liner pattern fades or wears away (from high foot traffic / automatic pool vacuum paths) the white will show through very aggressively. Basically you could probably see it from Google earth satellite pictures. Older pool liners printed on dark blue stock, when they wear away, reveal dark blue stock underneath - essentially you can not even see these areas for the movement in the water - even up close. So if you want your liner to look as good as possible, for as long as possible, choosing dark stock will narrow down your options to 3 or 4 from any average manufacturer. Pick the one you like the best and rest assured it will look fantastic once it is in the pool. Also, a liner manufacturer will tell you that liner color does not affect water temperature - this is just them covering liability from crazy people wanting a refund because the water is not warm enough. Logic dictates that a dark blue liner will soak up more heat from the sun that a white liner. In my experience about 7 degrees F can be achieved on the same pool with a dark liner versus a light liner. I hope this information is helpful!
