Thank you for replying :-) I have done the search for light gray/grey cabinets etc on google and Houzz. I think the main problem is that I borrowed the door sample from the place we bought the kitchen from, and when we put it in the kitchen, sometimes it looks grey, and sometimes it looks more beige. I tried Egyptian cotton, haven't had a look at rope swing so will look at that one. I really liked the nobillia picture and wanted to create a similar look, but I think the colours may be too dark for our kitchen. We aren't having a splashback as we are having quartz upstands, and behind the sink, these will be taken up to the windowsill. I think you are probably right to paint the walls all one colour.

I would not choose a wall color until all the other stuff in the kitchen is installed including counter back spalash these will all have an effect on your wall color choice .We have none of that info so we would only be guessing at best. This is agray kitchen I did for a client and as you see we actually painted the walls the same color as the cabinets it all depends on the full package so be patient and you will have a much nicer space.

Hi Patricia, thank you for the reply. The kitchen looks great!! It's interesting as having looked at your picture with the colour on the wall, I'm wondering if I could go a bit darker. If you leave the painting till everything is in, doesn't it impact the finish, especially if the quartz worktops and upstands have been installed?

Just make sure to tape off and cover what might get paint on it. I just find that it makes for a better choice that really complements the room and in the case above the painter really fought with me but after it was done he actually liked it.

Do you want the room to feel cooler or warmer? This is worth a read, how light affects color for south facing rooms.

I would stick with 1 color for entire room since they run together. Sometimes add multiple colors can be eye distracting with no focal point.

Thank you for all the advice. If I go for one colour on the wall, should I go for a shade that is lighter than the doors or slightly darker? I would like to select a colour that complements the door colour which is proving difficult. Lighter colours don't seem to work with the door, but then perhaps I am looking at the wrong ones. Also, any colours on the wall with the windows in appears much darker than the same colour on the other walls. I know I'm useless at this and if I had the money I would pay someone to decide for me :-)

Thank you Bette for the link, that was a really useful read. I think I want it to feel warm, as when it's sunny (which doesn't happen that often in the UK to be fair), it is such a bright space.

SW 0068 Sherwin Williams is a beautiful blue that would warm up your space and make it feel cozy. Benjamin Moore Pale Oak is also a great natural color that is of a warmer hue. I hope this helps!
