I have a traditional colonial home which has red oak floors with a cherry stain on them in my LR, DR, Office, Stairs and upstairs hallway. I have mahogany hardwood in my family room which is separated by the kitchen and foyer which is marble. I am planning to put red oak floors in my upstairs bedrooms but it seems dark floors are in.
Should I keep the floors in the bedrooms the same as the rest of the house or should I put in dark wood floors. Would it be possible to do just my staircases, hall and upstairs in the dark wood or would that be too choppy.
