I'd just go a lot lighter, like the blue of a broadclothshirt. Otherwise, if this is the tone she wants, maybe just one wall? Or paint the whole room but then fill it with uniform (ideally white) furniture, so that the wall becomes the accent color for the room.

A light indigo would be an easy color to work with whether she is younger or older. The color below is Diamond Vogel Paint™ 7383 Breezy Indigo and would work well with deep indigo accents and white and pinks. I think it will also compliment bamboo flooring and I have a similar color in my living room - with lots of light it feels warm but not dark. If you find this is too dark, you could go one shade lighter. To keep the room feeling light, use white bedding and layer with 2 or 3 colors for interest and if you are handy, you could make an upholstered headboard.
