Cast stone is a generic term that means man made stone that comes from a mold. Most cast stone is different. Just as most Limestone is different. Old World offers a cast stone that replicates limestone from Bedford. We have replicated the texture and density of limestone. Hope this helps.

I know from experience, Old World Stoneworks products are Very similar to limestone. They don't make lightweight stone. My Amhurst mantel weighs about 2,025 pounds and totally is a limestone product. I was very happy with the mantel and would not hesitate to buy from them again. Not a lighweight product, a real stone mantel.

Cast stone has the advantage of not having any of the natural flaws of natural stone, and can be formed into shapes cut stone can't be shaped into. For Dry Tamp stone a barely moist concrete is poured into a mold, then compacted into the mold with power air-hammers.
