I would've gone with armandii w/o using the cone but simply looking at the foliage and bark.

It is supposed to be Pinus strobus x ayacahuite 'Forest Sky':

I hope it is not mis-labeled.

I thought as a cross with the 'Mexican pine', it may not be as
hardy, The past two winters (probably the worst in decades) even Pinus
sylvestris and densiflora etc (even some native Pinus strobus) suffered
significant winter damages, but this one came through nicely even though
it is not in a particularly protected location.

The needles on my Pinus koraiensis seem to be more coarse than this pine.

Pinus strobus x ayacahuite? I thought that hybrid would've made much longer cones....

The needles don't look like strobus or ayacahuite.

This is listing the cultivar as an example of the hybrid with Himalayan white pine.

beng12, as Resin pointed out, this particular cone is likely deformed.

clement, This is the likely source of my plant: Pinus 'Forest Sky'. Did you expect the needles to be longer?
Embothrium, when I search 'Pinus x schwerinii 'Forest Sky'' on google image, it appears only Conifer Society show is under this name.

Tricky; not really, no. But I'd be inclined to think P. strobus may not be involved. Might be easier to tell when it is mature, and see what the seeds and seedwings are like (if any have developed!).
