Are you quilting this weekend? August 7-9

I have been working on the Snapshot BOM from Fat Quarter Shop this week. I have the July block cut out and ready to sew. The next block comes out on the 15th. I am also making the smaller version.

I have half of my Twisted Blossoms blocks finished too. These are the projects I hope to work on this weekend.

Ohio is having tax free days this weekend for back to school. It includes clothes and school supplies. DD and I are planning a shopping day tomorrow.

What are your plans for this weekend?

We are off to Ottawa, Ontario, to visit great granddaughter. She will be two this month, so a good age. We only get to see her rarely, so must take advantage of the week.

    So sadly, no quilting!

    Have fun, Theresa!

Linda, our sales tax holiday on school supplies started today and lasts 10 days. I plan to do some more quilt-shop hopping tomorrow (local shops this time), but may also take advantage of the tax break and shop for some clothes.

I really need to make myself clean the house - I've put it off way too long.

Will be working on lotto blocks. I just finished my August blocks and will begin cutting for the remaining 3 months. I would like to get them done so I can get some holiday sewing organized.

I have what I call 'the hippy quilt' on the frame to finish quilting. It is a disappearing 9 patch with scrappy batiks. I am also going to cut and kit up stuff for retreat this weekend. I like to have it ready to sew when I get there. Then with whatever time is left, I will sew some more string blocks :)

Still working on what I've been working on for awhile.....would be nice if I could stay at the machine until it was done.....no such luck.

I'd like to get the Morning Star II lotto quilt quilted this weekend, bound and labeled. I've decided to give it to my brother-in-law and his lady for their wedding on the 29th. I'd also like to get Winter Windows labeled, but that means a trip to Jo-Ann Fabrics for some printer labels. I could start cutting on my granddaughter's argyle quilt too. Lots to do.

Beth, I'm glad you're able to help with your grandkids. That's a tough age to lose a parent. Sounds like you're on high alert these days. Take care of you, too.

thanks, Sharon! LOL.. "High Alert". that pretty much sums it up! It's all part of Life. We'll make it. Gardening and quilting are some awesome forms of therapy! ....whenever I can fit them in!

Beth, Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

    Thanks so much, Sharon!! <3

love that, Beverly..have always been a fan of fans... (sorry!) ..but it's true...fan design has always been a favorite!

Sounds like it was in pretty bad shape, Beverly. Looks good now! Good job!

I would like to finish DDs Scooby-Doo quilting, but DH is gone for the day. I have been getting things ready for a donation pick up on Tuesday.

spent all day yesterday at UVA hospital. My best friend from high school's DH fell funny yesterday and slashed his wrist on glass. Was air lifted to UVA where they did surgery to re-attach nerves, tendons, and arteries.

No quilting here. We took our 2 exchange students white water rafting yesterday and I got "Canon-shot" out of the raft early in the trip. I did the right stuff - feet downstream, on my back, swim to the closest raft, pulled in. HOWEVER, my knee hit a huge rock and twisted in the process. I managed to complete the trip but my knee is doubled in size and I can barely walk. Waiting to call the orthopeadic center in the morning to see how bad it really is! Meanwhile, I am confined to bed, leg elevated with ice. Sleeping a lot, watching TV, reading. I would try hand quilting but have trouble concentrating too long.

Oh, Sue, what an experience. I'm sorry you're hurting. I hope the docs don't find anything seriously wrong tomorrow and that you'll soon be back in the swing.

I had a busy weekend. I finished the snapshot blocks on Friday and dd and I went shopping Saturday . I found lots of things I needed. Today, I went to the LQS. They were celebrating their 12th birthday and everything was 20% off. Found a pattern I had on my list, flower pins and the license plate for the Row by Row shop hop. Good weekend!

Sue, Glad you were able to get to another raft and only the knee is affected. However, hurting the knee is very very painful as most of us know. I hope the ortho center can make things right and you have no lasting problems. Keep us updated, please. Hugs.......

oh dear, Sue...hoping for good news for that knee....ouch. Best for a very speedy recovery!!

Sue, sorry to hear you hurt your knee. Though your story does make me feel better since I got a concussion on vacation riding a roller coaster...People have said to me since, "do you not think you are too old to be planning vacations around roller coasters?" and I am like "no, it would not have hurt me if I had not been so short." Age has nothing to do with it and I am glad that you are still going out rafting and having fun. I go rafting on the Ocoee River at least once every summer. If I were in your shoes right now, I would just be thankful it was not worse. The rapids and the rocks can be dangerous. Hopefully some physical therapy can fix your knee. Next time though, maybe you should just hang on while everyone else paddles LOL Remind me to tell you the story of my friend Karen rafting this summer. :)

Jen, I hope your friend's hubby is okay after surgery!

Sue, I'm sorry to hear about your knee...hope it's nothing serious!

I bought myself an early birthday present when I was shop-hopping Saturday. It's a full kit for a BOM called Provence and Beyond. It was expensive, but I just love the design and the fabrics, and the hop special was 15% off. I started on it yesterday. :)

I hope everyone made it safely through the weekend! Sue, hope your knee is better today.

Donna, that is a beautiful quilt kit. You will have to keep us updated on your progress as you work on it.

Everyone stay safe and have a wonderful week!

Donna, that is a beautiful kit! I will be anxious to see your finish.

Thanks, Linda & Sue. It's big (queen size, I think) so it has a lot of blocks. The instructions call for fused machine applique but I will probably do hand applique instead.
