Yeah, another vote for changing to the light blue -- even if you stayed red, I think you'd need to deepen the shade considerably, so might as well go for something that feels new and fun!

Just an opinion, but if you are going to add a new portico and roof, I would update the front door too. Much like the one in your inspiration pic with or without the sidelights;)

Also I would remove the wreath and add large modern house numbers.

My vote is to repaint the door burgundy, the same color as the two dark red maples. Remove the wreath and get some great house numerals and new, larger light fixture. Get multicolored large ceramic planters in turquoise, dark red, tan in shades that match roof and siding. When you plant, add coleus in shades of lime and burgundy. Start mixing in dark red mulch into what you have.

I think turquoise would be beautiful, but I agree it would have to be bold otherwise it just blends in with everything else. I personally do not think I would like the door matching the color of the trees. The area is lovely and the trees are beautiful!
