What's the wood flooring material (species)?

    Actually, when the original floor was installed in 1947 the builders used red oak. However, the characteristic pinkish color of the red oak wood has faded off to the point that the color you see now is similar to white oak. When we remodeled this house last year the repairs were done using white oak number 1. Let me know if you have any questions. Happy to help you.

    You can never go wrong with White Oak floors, we use them all the time in our projects, and like GCDD pointed out, the original floors were installed in 1947 so you know that Oak floor are timeless and durable, to last so long. If you are looking to replicate the look of that floor, for your own project, here's a few examples. These floors are a little wider, but is certainly a popular style.
