Well, it's a rose of sharon- hibiscus syriacus. They can be pruned back pretty hard, but that one's so big I'd recommend moving it, come fall, to a space where it can really take off. You might try rooting some cuttings just as a precaution...Of course, if in moving it you don't get all the roots out, you can expect to have rose of sharon babies come up.

I definitely don't want to get rid of this thing. Its my favorite because of all the critterz it draws near. How, exactly, would I go about moving it though. I'm 100% new to transplanting. Would it be wiser to have someone do it for me?

It looks like some type of semi-double Hibiscus syriacus. They bloom on new wood, so an annual pruning in late winter will help keep them in bounds, produce a bushier plant, and as a result you'll get many more flowers.

They take pruning very well, but I'm not sure you want to reduce it's size dramatically over one season. The link below will help get you on your way. Good luck!
