This is a beech floor. We were matching the original beech floors from 1910 in the rest of the house. The kitchen was an addition and the homeowners wanted the new floors to blend seamlessly with the old ones, which you can see in the family room pictures. The top finish is polyurethane and any staining would have been just to match the existing. It is a very natural look. Hope this helps!
