folks

i asked my contractor to cap the garage roof so that the wood doesn't deteriorate in the future. He did it but only on the front of the roof and hasn't touched the rear part that's not visible to me but faces another homeowner. I think he left it out as he sees this as being something cosmetic but isn't it something that's done to protect your own garage? Do most people cap both sides or just the one that's visible to them?
