Mealybugs, perhaps?

Thanks for the advice bardamu_gw and Sophie! Really hope they're good bugs! Can't bear to see my lemon balm die. It's day 4 now..so far so good..thought I attach a couple of photos here so u guys could have a look

Second photo's a close up..there seems to be lesser of them in the day though..way more at night.

I don't quite understand the photos. I'm wondering why there is a mass of exposed roots and also noticing a few pupae on the surface. Both those things point to overwatering and a very damp medium. I'd agree that letting the soil dry out will probably help. And are these plants indoors? If so I'd get them outside asap.

Floral_uk : thanks for the advice!I'm not too sure about the exposed roots but I thought they were normal for lemon balms as it was mostly like that when I bought it from the store.

But yea, I'm still in the midst of drying the soil out. And the plants are indoor plants but they do get about 6 hours of strong sunlight in one day. Rainy season over here in Singapore..so I haven't taken the plant out for more sun yet, mostly drying out on the balcony

Right - we didn't know you were in Singapore. Lemon Balm is not really a tropical plant so it might be a bit trickier for you. It's basically a weed here in the UK, at least it behaves like one.

The roots should not be exposed. Cover them up with some more potting medium. And I really think it should be outside.
