Help . . .need advice about backsplash in kitchen

I am gutting my small kitchen in a condo we recently bought in southern Florida. I want granite counters with maple stained cabinets. The floors are a white large tile. I need some input about using the same granite that I am using on the counters as the backsplash. My builder said it looks lovely, but I can't find a lot of pictures that show me how it looks. He said it just looks like one piece of granite--the countertop and the backsplash. What does anyone thing??? Is it too much?? Should I tile the back splash?? Would love some input.

How busy is your granite pattern? And what color? Also what color maple stain and style of cabinets? Many people love the look of the granite on the backsplash as well as the counters, especially in very contemporary kitchens. Personally I find it overwhelming. If you are putting in a busy granite pattern, I would suggest using tile on the backsplash in a color taken from one of the lighter colors in the granite. But this is a personal preference rather than a design rule, and lots also depends on the stylistic details of your particular kitchen.

Cabinets are simple design--mid color maple (not too dark). Granite is a bigger pattern and not "busy," (don't care for the smaller patterns). Going with the lighter granite with streaks of brown. I'm thinking tile in the back . . . I really appreciate your input. Thank you.
