Rain Barrels

Do I need a specific style of barrel for use with a rain chain? Also, I want the barrel to fill up to a point, but then divert to downspout. Do you have models like that?

I am looking to do the same thing. Most people I think use a diverter to channel the water once the barrel is full (go to amazon for good deals). The diverter attached the the gutter downspout but I think you can divert it at a different downspout. Maybe use the rain chain where there is less roof water flow and fill the barrel where the water really pour down. On my house only two areas really pour down when we get a good rain.
