Thanks for sharing that Larsi, I read something about it a few days ago..it would be good to see GE have a win-win..they have floundered for years now. I'd like to see them with a great machine.

These are basically the same as the Kenmore by Whirlpool top loaders with the wash plate that has corkscrew on it and Deep Water Wash option...

whirlpool trainee...article says brand new model, with an Agitator...not a wash plate "he" top loader. This is a true top loader, with a full tub fill option!!

Larsi is correct its a agitator model. However I think GE is also launching new top load HE's

AjMadison has the new models already; along with user manuals. It's a wash plate with corkscrew slapped on it. A true conventional top loader wouldn't need a Deep Fill button like these new GEs.

Alex is indeed correct. It's an agi-peller and you better get used to it, because new energy regulations are sending the center-post agitator the way of the dodo bird. Even Speed Queen will have to comply by 2019.

I still think front loaders are the way to go...Europe has been using them for like ever.

Another issue with FLs is installation. My antique Cape floors are not stiff enough for the high spin speeds of a front loader. I'm worried about the HE top loader i just bought.

Mabel...make sure delivery levels it...don't let them tell you it will level itself...stand in front of the door if you have to lol.

Leveling is not a magic cure for a weak floor.

We are hopeful that these hybrid wash system will improve wash results. The main issue we run into with low post HE machines is that they use so little water that, unless loaded and used perfectly, they struggle to cycle the clothes from top to bottom. This results in very inconsistent washing.

The WA4172G1 from fisher paykel is a similar design and has been working well for our customers.

Still prefer speed queen or front loader, but for the user who can't or won't buy those, this should be a good alternative.

P.S. The sale of GE to electrolux may be dead. The DOJ sued electrolux recently to stop the sale. It'll be some time in court, but who knows if or when it will occur.

The info in this thread is ancient by appliance-company standards. The mentioned sale of GE appliances division to Electrolux failed. It was sold to Haier effective 6/6/2016.

The newest GE toploaders (today's date 5/2/2022) don't have a water level control other than a Deep Fill option. All cycles are 1) auto-sense the load size or 2) maximum fill ... nothing between. They also save water by not spinning after the wash -- drain and immediately go into rinse, which may be a shower-spray or an agitated rinse depending on the cycle and option selections.
