We once rented a house in France with a tub in the bedroom. It was rather charming for a week, but not something I'd want everyday!

One of the new trends is to do an open master bath suite. I'm sure there would be a way to incorporate a tub so the entire space flowed really well. The issue would be running plumbing and also making sure that any outlets in bedroom that were close enough by code (I think within 3' of any water source...might be off on that) be changed to GFCI.

Honestly, I don't think it's a great idea. Aside from the challenges with plumbing, moisture, electrical, etc., anytime I've seen a standalone tub in a bedroom it looks creepy and weird to me. Just my opinion.

I disagree with sayboone. It is totally opinion. I believe there is more than one way to skin a cat, and as a designer, I think that all options are open if thoughtfully and gracefully done. Here are some examples. I've seen others that were more to MY particular personal liking, but these are still pretty nice.

Sorry sayboone...wasn't trying to come across as a jerk. I was agreeing with you that it really is just an opinion. As a designer/builder, it is my job and my passion to look at everything as an opportunity and not an obstacle. I apologize if my previous post came across as callous.

Something to consider -- taking a bath in a big space is not as warm as taking a bath in an enclosed bathroom. When the bathroom is enclosed, the warm air stays in the room, when it's open -- it feels chilly when you get out.
