By alpine garden, I assume you mean a bunch of loose, natural textures with lots of blooms and plants sort of spilling into one another? You definitely want to talk with a designer. That type of design takes a good bit of skill to pull off, especially when you're limiting the plant palette with your height requirements (which I'd suggest being more flexible on, btw). 20 years ago we built our home and were broke when we finished. Despite that, we paid a landscape designer to plan our beds, and they are still gorgeous (and imitated) today. Start with a local Botanical Garden or garden society for references, review the work of several, and work with a pro.

Seems to be the concensus to contact the landscape designers. I will try a few more along with the societies. We did conatct 2 already but they seemed to want to go with the ordinary rather than an Alpine design. Im just trying to do something a little artist rather than Rhodos etc.
