This roof pitch is actually only about 3:12. The idea is that the pair of main beams rest on the cross-beams, and then the roof panels sit on top of the main beams, so there is an openness in the center rather than a beam, which diminishes the sense of volume.

Thank you for your interest in my work. The room dimensions (from the end of the kitchen behind this photo to the fireplace wall beyond) is about 44' x 20'. The ceiling height starts at about 14'-6" from the bottom of the transverse beams to about 18' at the ridge. All the best,
