I think the corner feels too close to the window, and too far from the end of the wall. My vote is centered :)

From this angle, and this lone photo, I'm in agreement with Errant (and with your mom.) However, more information (more photos, from different angles & further back) might be helpful.

If you're doing two I might consider offsetting them...maybe one at the window and one centered...but my DH says I have an inherent aversion to precision and symmetry, lol!

Math, wow! That is looking great! I remember your planning posts, and I saw your platform post, but I hadnt seen anything since (maybe you hadnt posted anything in between).

What did you plan to do on the right side of the shelf if they arent centered? Artwork? Other? Right now, I would say centered, but that is only because it feels unbalanced all the wayto the left. But, if there was something on the wall to the right...

I vote all the way to the window wall if the opposite wall of cabinets/shelves goes all the way to the window wall as well. If I remember correctly, it does.

To me, the view from the bar toward the window is more important than the view while you're looking forward at the open shelf wall.

Another consideration is what you plan to put on the shelves. If you plan to put cookbooks, you wouldn't need a bookend if you had the shelf abut the wall.

I think centered, as it definitely seems to crowd the window. Is it very close to you when you're standing at the sink? Would it be possible to shorten the shelf by a foot or so?
