Wood blinds that look like Venetian blinds could work here. Or try Ripplefold draperies (minimal stackback space needed) that end at apron height to avoid the radiator. Add a simple or shaped upholstered pelmet. https://www.houzz.com/photos/pelmet-box-ideas-phbr0lbl-bl~l_67236

Hi Kathleen. I just had the same dilemma and settled on Hunter Douglas Luminese. (sp?). It's pricey but my designer/friend said that plantation shutters are more money (that's what I thought I wanted) and I have a lot of wood already (cove molding and wood around fireplace). He said he wanted to soften the room and window treatment shouldn't be the focal point but, instead, blend into the room. BTW, they are soooo easy to raise and lower! I love them!

I attached a photo of the dining room window. Sorry it's dark but it's the morning sun.

Your other post says you are over budget already. If you need a temporary solution, try the temporary paper shades from Home Depot at $6 each. Other inexpensive options are inside-mount tension rods with sheer curtains hemmed to fit the window length; those could run as little as $10 for the tension rod and $5 for each curtain panel.

I love naked windows, and am also a big believer in letting beautiful window casings like these show. Any inside mount shade would be great.

Do you have furnishings? It would be helpful if we had an idea of what you're working with. Hard to give advice until you have a cohesive plan for the room.

Yes teal retro couch and Charles eames leather chair and a sixties kidney table ....original

Rest is on a container on the ocean

In my professional opinion this room need shear curtains with heavier drapes covering the walls between them

Similar to the bedroom window treatment in this project http://sainteriordesignstoronto.com/hard-candy.html

That was there before ...I just find the room is small and I love the more open feel of it without the window treatments

Well what was there before was not your style, lol.
You could do some beautiful custom modern drapery panels if you don't need privacy. They could be stationary panels, but would give some warmth and texture to the room.
A bold geometric pattern in a fabulous linen would look great. Or you could keep it simple and neutral, no pattern just texture. I would wait until all of your things are in the room and go from there.

If you are over budget, why don't you wait until your budget allows.
No need to do everything all at once!
You will be much happier with something you love and have waited for, rather than an inexpensive quick fix.
