Holy moly! Your kitchen is gorgeous! I would leave the window bare. How much did you spend on the gut renovation if you don't mind me asking?

I had the color custom matched to a piece of fabric I found, but it was closest to BM Green Wave - so close to Sea Salt, but a bit less gray.

While I appreciate your compliment, I did this kitchen on my own, without the assistance of a designer. I'm simply 'stuck' after making so many decisions and wanted some suggestions that might be a little outside the box.

Really lovely. Do you have a color you'd like to bring in from the adjoining room? Go with that.

I would do custom partial,roman shades to add a little softness. You could do the same or a coordinating fabric on the window to the right.

Plantation shutters would not work with the hanging pendant.

Love your reno! I have been collecting ideas for a kitchen reno and will definitely refer to yours for further inspiration. I'd put a pretty roller blind in there. See it when you want, don't see it when you don't want.

you did not say whether you needed privacy or not...you could do a relaxed roman or a working roman for privacy.....or a shaped valance over the window.....an outside mount so you can go over the window.

I recently did roman shades for my clients. It gives the window a nice finishing touch without blocking the natural sunlight.

Your kitchen is beautiful! I would suggest wovens in the same color tone as your floor.

I would be putting up a bamboo or wood roll up blind. Something in a chestnut or darker brown.

Levelor 1/2" Micro Mini Aluminum Blinds.....................I can't stand anything that hold grease and odors the way fabric does and these are easy to see out of and to clean. Change your handles to the small cranks and they will not be in the way of opening the windows.

Hi, you've done a beautiful job on your kitchen. My questions is did you use green paint and blue paint in another area? Or are the changes in wall color from shadows & different lighting. Whatever it is it's gorgeous. If you've time to respond I'd love to know the brand & color paints you chose.

Privacy isn't a concern. This window is on the side of the house and looks to the side of the neighbor's house with tall arborvitae in between the yards.

Because this window is over the sink, I would go with 2 inch faux wood blinds and a nice fabric valance.
The faux wood looks just like real wood, but won't warp or chip due to splashes. Pretty kitchen!

If privacy isn't a concern, you could bring in a beautiful fabric faux Roman Shade, that stays fixed at the top. I don't think in this kitchen you will be splattering grease any where near that window. I have linen roman shades ,and all they need is a gentle vacuuming to get the dust off.

People like Adivra anger me. Clearly this kitchen is beautiful and well thought out, does it mean she can't ask for ideas just because she has a talent for design and beauty? You accuse her of fishing for compliments and assume she had a designer. Sounds like envy to me. I, on the other hand, can freely give praise and ideas to someone who shared her beautiful work with us!

I think the window cries out for color and texture in a covering. I would opt for a Roman shade for the texture it would provide. The kitchen is lovely, but it would look totally complete with a window covering.

I love fabric shopping. Don't know where you live, but can you get to a design center. Don't go skimpy on these. You don't need a whole lot of yardage, but be sure you get something spectacular to finish off the room.
A great white linen would look beautiful or go bold with a geometric print or stripes.

There are four windows in the adjacent room, with old radiators in front of two, so I'm thinking about doing bamboo shades there. And thank you.

Sink pendant is from Progress Lighting and the counters are Super White Quartzite.

What have you decided?

I'm toying with Roman shades in a printed fabric that incorporates the aqua and some other colors for the kitchen, but am wrestling with whether or not that will bother me if I do bamboo shades in the adjacent family room, where I really don't want a patterned fabric because the other furnishings and textiles are busier....

Are you planning on any throw rugs on the floor as well? If you're thinking of the Romans primarily as a way to bring in color, but would be just as happy with the woven shades to tie in with the other room, could you do the wovens and then use the rugs for color? Wovens will also bring some warmth to the window level, which might be appealing to you. Your floors are particularly stunning, btw - and you did a great job with the whole kitchen. I know exactly what you mean about making more decisions; I just finished a gut job for bath and bedroom and added a linen closet to the space. My brain is so tired from all the "if this, then what about that" kind of thinking, even though I still have decorating decisions to do, too.

I wasn't planning on decorative rug(s) there because of the kitchen. Between me and the tween/teen daughter (and husband, let's be honest!), we are not the neatest in the kitchen and I don't want to worry about spills.

Sounds like I'm just like your family! But we use inexpensive but attractive throw rugs at the sink and main food prep areas to protect the floors from spills. I guess I'd rather throw them into the washer and dryer than mop the floors. But I do realize it may not be the kind of look you are going for, either.

How about vinyl roller shades, I install window coverings, and I am seeing a lot of them over sink windows. easy to clean and unobtrusive when rolled up.

I think it would be beautiful to add a top treatment and leave the rest untouched. That way you can add some color or texture without covering up the windows. If you are looking for privacy then I would go with a roman shade.
