A lot of work, but we are finally done! Cabinets sanded and repainted. New tile flooring, appliances, sink and granite countertop. Crown molding installed above soffit. Love our new kitchen!

Nice job overall, though unfortunate juxtaposition between the countertop and backsplash and you should have replaced the light over the sink with a recessed light, not with a hanging drum light. Is there under-cabinet lighting?

Nice, can you repurpose the light fixture above the sink? A beautiful small over the sink pendant would be better scale or as suggested one recessed light.

Looks great. And I like the light fixture. Everyone has different taste. You probably get more light with this fixture than a small one. Keep it

I am amazed what you did with those cabinets, what an advertisement for painting vs. replacing! Love everything about this including the light over the sink, which has character. Not sure why people are picking on it when there is so much to rave about!! The butcher block, where did you get that? The brick backsplash, the granite, the floor, everything. Great job, enjoy it.

Looking at your kitchen again, because you didn't remove the soffit the light is low over your sink.A pendant would hang very low, but perhaps a light that is more to scale would be better. If you like it, that's all that matters :)

Gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous! The French Butcher Block is to die for! Ties in so nicely with the backsplash! Where did you find it? Paris Flea Market? I love it and it adds so much design presence to the room. Very nice!

kitchen looks fantastic. how do you like the painted cabinet? I always wanted to do this to mine but was always afraid it will look tacky and not professional.

I love the light above the sink, and I think a small pendant would be out of scale AND not provide the amount of light you want. This light stands out because you removed the window blinds and valance, and I think it is a perfect fit with a clean, updated look that goes with your kitchen style. Keep it and enjoy it - you made the right decision.

What age was your original kitchen? We have the same original cabinets and our kitchen is from about 1980 and we are wanting to redo soon. Did you keep some soffits to hide AC or plumbing? Nice redo overall!

Here's another vote for keeping the light over the sink. Everything does not have to be predictable, and I think the light adds style and interest.

I absolutely love the entire kitchen re due! I'm wonder as well how did you do the cabinets did you hand paint or spray paint them? and what type/brand of paint did you use?

Absolutely excellent! Your selections are just perfectly harmonious. Those cabinet look like new white ones. The granite is unique and flooring adds rustic appeal.

Thanks all for the nice comments! The home was built in '93/'94. The cabinets were in good shape and we didn't want to spend money on new cabinets, leaving more for better appliances! Painting the cabinets was easy, but time consuming. We lightly sanded and rolled/brushed them with Sherwin Williams primer and trim/door paint (Eider White (Emerald). Put up beadboard wallpaper on the soffit and had crown molding installed, then painted the same color as the cabinets) and added new hardware. Very easy to clean! Our tile wood look floor is awesome...will never have to replace it!

So glad your cabinets were nice enough to paint. Removing the cabinets between the kitchen and dining area really opened up the room. It is very beautiful. Also, the light fixture above the sink works well in this room.

Great Job, I am sorry to make any negative comment, but I would have perhaps picked different pendants over the counter or put in recessed lights. It sort of looks like, you found the over the sink light and pendants on the clearance isle, I am just a picky light person. If your clients are happy, that is all that matters......Great find in the BIG butchers block.

Cleveland, I feel the same. Lighting to me, is like jewelry, the finishing touch! There's so many gorgeous choices out there that add the sparkle to a room.

Cleveland, the Kichler lights were purchased from Lighting New York and are good quality. No need to apologize....to each his own!

For those commenting on their preference to do a recessed light over the sink, my husband and I tried that with our kitchen. Even with buying the smallest can light housing we could find, there still wasn't enough room in the soffit to do the switch (studs and pipes in the way). We went with a small pendant light with the cord about 4 inches long.

Very unique butcher's block. I love it. Also, I'm glad you are enjoying the "wood look" tile floor. I am always amazed at the new products we have coming into our stores. Suppliers really think outside the box with products. So fun!
