I wondered about the stone too. Is this a veneer?

this looks like real stone, probably limestone I live in one and I am now renovating. I love the look and would like to expose my exterior walls like this.

I would like to know the type of mortar mix used to point the stone in this photo. And how well does it stay up to the elements in the tropics?

The exterior of my house in SW France (Aveyron) has just been pointed in this way. The render was applied onto existing original stone after the old grouting was picked out and the maçon used a lime mortar mix which is synonymous with that region. We haven't got around to getting shutters yet but generally, they are always painted dark brown, though I'm going with a more contemporary look using F&B French Gray.
