I just wanted to get some feedback on your thoughts of necksurgery with Hippeastrums. I bought a papilio last year that turned out to be a La Pango, the bulb the seller gave me in return turned out to be a Merengue. But before that, when I recieved the bulb, I was afraid I mayhaps would not see blooms at all.

The neck was so tiny, I could not imagine a fat papilio bud may emerge from this one. But the bulb had not the typical papilio-pear-shape at all. Either way, I decided to trim the neck a little:

I did not come far before I reached the flowering scape, so I stopped. When the buds emerged everything was fine. One missed its top, but bloomed gorgeous nonetheless. Of course, they where slender cybister-type-buds:

The growth was strong and ripped the inner layers a little, something I would have liked to avoid, but no major damage was done. Now the small bulb stands well attached to the soil and has a lovely bunch on leafes:

In the end, I think I changed nothing with my little surgery. But can you share some insights into this topic? Have you done successful necksurgery?
