OMGoodness do I need help!

We have been without a counter top and sink for 3 mos mostly because of me. I can't make a decision to save my life!! My family has been mostly patient.

I need to decide on granite like yesterday...last week..last month!! I'd like to paint my cabinets white...we have white appliances...we are also putting the house up for sale in the spring...but if we don't I want to like what I choose. I also need to choose lighting, backsplash, and knobs. I have chosen an apron sink and the faucet. Woohoo!!

I go back and forth between different black to light granites. I'm pretty sure I like the honed/leather look. Since we are probably selling I don't want to spend a ton.

I had chosen Via Lattea Satin (so pretty) but it was out of the budget. Now I've narrowed it down to:

Black Pearl Leathered

Steel Grey Leathered or Polished

Glacier White Polished ( I would like it in satin but too $$)

What do you think would look best?

I would love to post pictures but it won't let me.

Small G shaped kitchen...lots of light...open to eating area then family room...light sage green walls...light oak floors.

I'd hate to see you spend a ton of $$$ if there is a good chance that you'll be selling! That being said, does the kitchen get as much natural light as the pictures would suggest?

I have huge windows all across the back of the house...so yes tons of light. We kind of need to up grade as it goes with our neighborhood. I've seen houses that haven't upgraded sit for awhile.

If the wood is in good condition, I don't think I would paint it. I think I would buy more contemporary handles and redo the countertops only. Do painted cabinets sell in your part of the country? They are not popular everywhere.

I'm glad we didn't go ahead and paint while I tried to find a granite. Waiting to see how the granite looks is a good idea. Will definitely save big $$$...even with the good deal the painter is giving us. I just like white cabinets...our last home was white and I've been living with this kitchen for 13 yrs. I'm just ready for a change. Maybe in my next home!!

I love soapstone!! That's why I fell in love with the Via Lattea...but I wasn't sure SS would be good for re-sell.

Thank you all for responding.....I needed outside help...at this point everyone just keeps agreeing with me so I'll pick something.

I'll be an outlier, and say that I would paint if I were you if white cabinets are popular where you live. I'm putting in wood-stained cabinets, but I know every remodeled kitchen I've seen around me is white. I think the glacier white would keep it nice and bright, too. Either way, determine your countertops, first. If you decide to paint, white is tricky and has to complement your cabinets' undertones.

If you are moving, you can do for the market (if you don't like what is selling in your area, this is hard to do). If you are staying, you should do for you. You may need to thoroughly clean (and wax?) the cabinets to get them to tip top visual shape....sometimes when you get a discount, you get what you pay for. It looks like you have a strong grain on the cabinets and smoothing that out would be extra work and should cost more, not less....

I went on Zillow this morning and looked at houses in my area at my price range on up and 99.9% of them are wood kitchens. Lol!!! This is crazy...I should have asked for help months ago. I have been on Houzz/Gardenweb for months looking at pictures...reading all the posts...I'd have saved myself a lot of time and stress!!

I'll be more prepared for the next house.

    Thanks a bunch!

How about leathered absolute black granite? It's very neutral, so would work with the wood tone or white. I just had it installed I my new build and I love it!
