It looks like you have a charming room. I have to admit that I haven't seen jabots being used since the late 80s. IMO there are not the best solution for window treatment.

i honestly think they are a bit fiddly. i'd prefer that lovely fabric as a plain panel.

I'm leaning to French country. I was concerned that the stripe didn't suit the overall look.

Now that you mention it, I think it's not so much the stripe that is bothering me ... But the style!

pleated jabots will always be 'in style' in a traditional room, but your room is very fresh feeling.

Love the room, but don't love the curtains. I would suggest long simple curtains, maybe the same cream color of your bed spread?! They could even have a simple, subtle, less eye catching print if you must. Hope that helps!

No to those curtain things. What about no blinds & pretty patterned curtains or colored blinds, maybe a deep yellow?

I think the curtains work because they have the same colors as the other linens. I do like the pairing of the striped curtains and the prints.

I think you did a wonderful job on decorating this room. However, I think the curtains are ugly and should be updated too. I wouldn't say your room has a French feel. It feel like a tailored contemporary room.

I would go with a black curtain rod and pair it with simple, off-white or cream curtains that won't fight for attention from the bedding. Going with simple ceiling to floor curtains would also enhance the yellow tones of the bedroom. Here are some examples of window treatments that would go well in this room:

:) Don't change a thing.... please... there's something young about them, similar to the single yellow flower. Because you've selected appropriate mix of patterns/ colors it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, and they meet the bottom yellow in a trim way.

Nope!! Sorry! Too Harsh! Even simple white sheer panels doubled up if store purchased, gathered closely and to the FLOOR on far left and rights only would be far nicer, more soothing, and nice in the airy, and summery feel you already have going.

To be specific I think I like that it mixes well with the floral quilt.

I like stripes and floral a lot.

I feel the panels make it feel like a children's room...cute and whimsical. I would just go with your blinds, or you could change to bamboo blinds (or shutters), due to the windows' layout and skip any drapery. You could also add a narrow bench under the larger window with pillows, which will make that area really pretty.

HI -- I like the stripes but not the style . If they had been just full length drape panels I think would look better . Actually I think if you painted the whole room the color that is on the bottom of the wall and also the chair rail (which you don't need ) the room will look better . Right now with the two color walls it makes it too much.

Love your room, love the stripe, but the style of the curtains is too fussy. Just decorative panels or a decorative roman shade would be nice in the stripe. I do agree that classic cream or white linen panels would be updated and fresh. You are heading in the right direction.

I can see why you chose the jabots; they are a classic style, they are ready-made and they pick up the blue (though the blue is a bit too dark).

There are three disconnects here:

• Their angular shape isn't relating to the soft shapes in the fabric and art in the rest of the room.
• The high contrast vertical stripes fight with the horizontal "stripes" of the blinds.
• They are a strong statement in a soft room.
• I would go with white plantation shutters and let the bed take center stage and set a more restful mood.

Really pretty room--love the blue and yellow palette! I like the striped fabric, but to have jabots with nothing else is unusual--they usually are paired with swags. Also, as BeverlyFLADeziner mentioned, swags and jabots are kind of a 1980s style, and ready-made pleated ones definitely look dated. Gathered swags and jabots in a more flow-y fabric would look great, but you should get them custom made. If you want to purchase ready-made, go with either gathered or pinch pleated panels on rings and rods. Or a simple tailored box-pleated valance.

Diana Bier, I agree with you about the need for swags if the jabots are used. The curves of the swags will add the softness that is missing with just the jabots. I also thought that the addition of sheers would add the "flow-y" softness that is missing.

I agree with the above. When I said I wasnt a Dan if the curtains, I was referring to the style, not color or print. If you want something other than just a shade, or blind etc. you can consider a cornice board. Not valance, a cornice board of which there are many shapes and styles.

styles are interesting.... swags and jabots are an ancient form of drapery, that just happened to have been over-used in the 80s. i feel bad folks condemn them as dated, when really they are just too formal for this lovely room.

I like the jabots. The shape alone as a window treatment is unusual and might be difficult to get used to but that is likely because it leaves the windows with a bit of an unfinished look.

Also, as is the jabots are the center of attention in the room. Consider adding a couple of tall lamps on the side tables, preferably with blue shades.

I'd likely change out the blinds and replace them with light colored wood or wood look mini blinds to replace the white ones so the contrast will not be as stark.

You could also add pale blue louvered doors over the bottom half of the windows and either remove the blinds or keep the blinds pulled up except when actually needed for privacy.

So flowy and feminine. Seems you picked a great time of day for showing textures in your room / the photo is nice too!

The only thing I'd "change" is to have a lamp that's tall enough to read by in bed. Really pretty, your guests will feel wanted and comfortable.

Wow, taco, what a difference! The room is perfect now!

The sheers are a big improvement. I suggest that there is too much going on visually at the bed. The louvered headboard, two different prints plus the textured spread make the bed look busy instead of inviting and relaxing. A smooth spread would take care of that and will look better with the louvers, even if the prints change. A pair of properly sized lamps for the bedside tables will finish this room nicely. To get the right lamps, measure the table height and the lamp should bring the overall height of the two pieces to 58-64" above the floor. If you're sitting to read in bed, the bottom of the lamp shade should land somewhere around your shoulder height.

Hello taco, I didn't see an answer about what you are going for style wise but my guess from the print mix and match you're looking for a bolder look. I would have posted the same question and followed the same advice and I love the chair addition. Your after pic is stunning in my opinion but my first thought as I was trying to figure out your design style was possibly much simpler but may have been the most custom solution. I think your room would have been really stunningly wow with vertical blinds cut into a V shape when closed that extended the same length as the opposite angle created on the other side by the older drapes. The eye would then first see a diamond which is also subtly reflected in the bedspread and then the other geo shapes and patterns you're displaying would flow seemlessly I think. I would love to hear what you think of that even if only to confirm or deny my guess as to your decor preferences. Either way, don't forget to have fun!!
