Since your selling your home I would go with the cheapest and not overthink it. However I do like some dark counters but for buyers u want the space looking large so I would do a simple light color and I agree with u nothing to golden peaches bc cabinet color. Don't paint your cabinets let new owner make that call. It's more $ and time.

When selling your home, it's best to use neutral colors. It keeps the interior bright and cheerful and allows the new owner to make small additions or changes to suit their own personal tastes, including painting the cabinets a color of their choice. Be sure to keep shelves and counter tops free from clutter. A few plants and freshly baked goodies will make your kitchen more inviting when showing.

My first kitchen love....all white with beautiful marble with a b/s. My husband nixed the heart fluttering marble. I swear when I see any marble I get that same feeling as a teen when that cute boy walks by...at the time of picking light granites I was painting cabinets white.

Found this one....it's priced right. How would she look with oak cabs and floors? I don't know what this is besides pretty!

Then I have my black granites I like. Mostly the honed/brushed variety. In fact I'd like them all that way lights and darks.

My husband fell in love with Titanium...which I like too....in the right kitchen. I don't think our tiny kitchen is "The" right one.

Cannot believe your are spending so much time on something you are selling. It shouldn't be something you love but something sellable. Make whatever you pick is a white background not cream or off white. It needs to match your appliances.

You are selling your home. It is no longer about what you like. Instead you need to appeal to the masses. If you select a dark granite, it is really going to make the white appliances stand out like a sore thumb. I would go with a neutral such as Santa Cecilia or New Venetian Gold. And if the comps in your area do not have granite, I wouldn't put in granite at all.

It's too late in your case because you have already removed the counters but an idea for others is to leave the old counters in place and offer a monetary credit to the buyer, so they can purchase the granite of their choice.

I"m confused. This dilemma went up 5 hours ago, but you have to decide today? I'm a bit uncertain what exactly you are hoping to do in one day when 3 months have not been enough to decide. At this point it's not about you at all, but the probable buyer. So what is the current trend in your area? Find the cheapest granite to go with the current trend, and call it a day. You don't have time to work with.

A light granite with some dark flecks in it would be good. I think a dark (not uba tuba) color would also set off all the light color nicely as well without darkening the room too much. And if you choose a dark color with lighter flecks/veining in it, it will not conflict with the white appliances.

Don't try to match cabinets...it will dull the look of the kitchen. And definitely don't paint the cabinets. If buyer doesn't want the wood look, they will paint them in the color they want. With limited natural light in your kitchen, I think the lighter granites would be better than dark. (Although I agree with mr.--titanium is a sweet color.)

Is that all the countertops we're seeing? It doesn't look like a very large area. Can you contact a counter fabricator and see if they have any remnants? I have done that for rentals and it's very economical. Just pick a light, creamy color.

Okay, now I see you posted on Friday this same problem. You had 10 good comments then. Time to make a decision and move on.

Thanks for the kick in the backside....I've been telling myself the same thing. But I'm also worried we'll end up not selling and I'll hate my kitchen. Plus I guess I have this pride thing going on...I want people, everybody, to walk in and say "Oh my goodness, this is gorgeous...I have to have it!" A bidding war would make my day!! :)

We had a leak that ruined cabinets...to get to the cabinets counters had to be removed...they were broke in the process...to get top dollar for our home updating with granite is a must. I don't like SS appliances and like I said "what if we don't end up moving". One last little thing...when this whole tear out of the kitchen started we weren't moving for a year or two...it wasn't until last week that things changed...up to last week it was all about what I loved...guess I just haven't loved anything. (Besides gorgeous marble)

Good luck! Agree that the whiter the better, both for lightness and to blend with white appliances. Toss the black samples aside. Pick a granite not a marble -- if your heart flutters for the marble, redo your master bath; it's terrible in the kitchen. Looking forward to the final photos!

weezel, I completely understand your feelings concerning it being about what you love. However, my guess is your house will sell. A new owner could very well undo everything you did, including replacing new granite with something else.

If it is any consolation, gorgeous marble doesn't fit the style of the kitchen, and would likely make you dislike other things in the room, if you had purchased it. I would be looking at pale off-white/beige with the most delicate veining I could find. In this way, you coordinate ( rather than match) with both your appliances and their probable replacements, and play up the current detailing width and undertones.
