What do you do with extra detergents?

We recently remodeled our laundry room and I found so many packages of detergents that I didn't like for one reason or another. Just curious what everyone else does with their orphaned laundry products :).

Well you can donate them to animal shelters, or homeless shelters. Or give them to a single parent struggling to make ends meet, providing you or someone you know knows of someone.

rococogurl....Wash the car? OH NO...that is not good for the clear coat, or any waxes on the paint, but leaving at the Laundromat is a really great idea!!

I give mine to my BFF, and then what she does not use or like, she passes along to her cleaning lady, who can use the help!

If I really hate a detergent, I will honestly throw it away...Charlie's Soap!! LOL

I have a sister in law that gets all of my laundry and cleaning extras. We don't really get along, so every couple of months I drop off a big load at the in-laws and they pass it on to her.

To the laundromat it goes. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Larsi, Charlies Soap is amazing for football, lacrosse and hunting gear. It doesn't do well with food stains but rinses well and gets out teenage boy sweat smell. It has a place on my shelf.

I haven't used Charlies, but I have Nellies which I think is the same thing..I originally bought it for the cute tin, I tried it on laundry, did nothing for stains for sure but for darks that are lightly soiled it works fine and no OB's, I also use it for my little babies blankets and toys since I don't want her things washed with harsh chemicals. So I do have a use for it, but I have soft water and that's key with Charlies and Nellies.

Recommend donating your unwanted laundry detergent to a local animal shelter. That's certainly a better option, and far more environmentally friendly, than simply throwing it into the trash can.

The only one, or the last one I threw into a trash can was Charlie's Soap. LOL It was followed with a string, of beautifully coloured 4 letter word combinations! HA HA.

I always donate or give away detergents, softeners or additives that are not my favourite, but I wanted NO ONE to have or use Charlie's Soap!!! :)

Lol, Larsi. I usually forward my detergents on as well, mostly to SIL. But the Charlie's was so bad I've just shoved it in a corner of the shelf. I wouldn't even put in with my "stash" pic in the other thread. I call it the "little brown bag of...well you know". :-)

When I used it my stainless steel tub in the washer even got dull. Larsi--are you still using the booster for hard water?

Sparky823...YES a dull stainless steel wash drum for me too! It was horrid. How could I forget about that??

I still have the Charlie's booster for hard water, but have not been using it since we had a whole house softener. Charlie's hard water booster is pretty great though!!

I tried CS too and hated it. Followed all the instructions and got dull stinky clothes. Don't blame you one bit Larsi for trashing it.

I donate mine to the Wake County SPCA which is close to my house and give some to my neighbors.
