Hope it survives the winter!

Oh, that is indeed lovely, Sara. But you should quit tempting me since I have no room left for new roses!

What a lovely rose, sara. Is it a Romantica? I've found them to be fairly cold tender, except for Colette. You might want to try some winter protection on it.

Off topic, sara, but are you familiar with Roses, Inc? Hope I got that name right. It's near Broken Arrow OK. This nursery has the new Pretty in Pink Eden Climber mentioned in the thread with the same name. I wonder if they ship roses, or if they are strictly local. Diane

I've had Michelangelo overwinter for me several years in zone 5, so it's likely to be OK for you. With Diane's comments though, you might give it a protected spot even in zone 6. I had mine in a protected zone 6 pocket, and I did lose it a year ago over a fairly normal winter. It's not cane hardy even when it came back, but it recovered reasonably well to regrow from the roots for the season. It is indeed a Romantica from Meilland, and I have most of them that overwinter reasonably well. A few are touchy, but Michelangelo is likely to overwinter in zone 6.

    Looks great!

    I love the form & color...stunning!

Thanks so much everyone. I appreciate the good advice. Diane, yes, Roses Inc. Green Country in Broken Arrow. They do ship out of state. I have got to be sure I make it there next spring. I think they have good quality roses.

Sara Ann are Green Countries roses grafted or own root.

Patty, their roses are mostly grafted. They ship container roses, so it must be pricey, but I think they have a good selection. So if it's a rose you couldn't find somewhere else, it might be worth it. I'm not sure how many varieties they carry, but I had a copy of their 2013 catalog and it was extensive, they had several classes from moderns to old garden roses, Austin, miniature and others.

Wow!!! That's beautiful!! Looks much prettier to me than the regular Michelangelo!

Sara-Ann, was it you with high hope for Berolina being an excellent yellow?

I'm wondering what makes this one (Michaelangelo) a heart stopper?

Yes, it was and I love them both! I love Berolina because of its look of elegance and Michelangelo for its old fashioned look! To me they're totally different, but both totally gorgeous! Berolina is in my front yard rose bed. After the June flush the majority of the roses in that bed didn't bloom much, right now they are doing great, so in a few weeks I expect to see lots of blooms from them, including Berolina, it's looking good!

Wow! That rose is beautiful! & it might be exactly what I'm looking for! I love yellows, and I love flowers of that classic form, but I have had little luck finding a disease resistant rose that has both of those attributes, I may have to go looking for this rose for spring! Has anyone in the southeast had luck with this being blackspot resistant?

Thanks Sara-Ann. What I suspected. I am very entranced with the form of Michaelangelo and the shade of yellow looks mellow on my monitor. Might be exactly what I've been searching for the last 20 years :-)

Dinglehopp, I am perusing ADR winners and saw Berolina listed so that puts it head and shoulders in health above others. Apparently most strict criteria are applied to achieve ADR status and it can be revoked!

Superb looking bloom Sara Ann! Hopefully it overwinters just fine for you!

Sara Ann, how is this rose now?

I had one for quite a while. It didn't survive last winter. It was pretty enough and bloomed rather well. It also got quite tall. It struggled with the late freezes we sometimes get. I hope it will do well for you.

Summersrhythm, it is looking good right now. Hopefully in a few weeks it will bloom, it looks very healthy. We had such a mild winter, it hasn't been tested that way yet.

    Great to hear!

Thanks Sara Ann, I got 3 bands last night after had tons of chocolate couldn't sleep. :-) Will have to find them warmer spots in the yard.

Beautiful indeed! Thanks for sharing because I have not come across this rose yet.

Oh that's just an amazing looking rose! I've always said I didn't care for yellow roses, but I'm rethinking lol.

Summers- score! I'd of picked one up too!

Is Michelangelo very fragrant? Meilland and HMF say light and Star Roses says strong. I am interested in picking it up at a local nursery to add to my deck garden (too much pink and apricot going on right now) but would prefer something that is very fragrant.
