I like what you've done so far. Dark walls and bed, white bedding and side tables. If you're able to make your moldings more substantial, it will add a lot to the room. Take a look at your inspiration photo...crown molding, layers of trim around the windows, and larger baseboards...all painted white. I'd also add thicker curtains in solid white, I'm a fan of privacy in bedrooms. (I do see brackets in the picture, so maybe you already have the curtains?)

Can you post some follow-up pictures? I'm sure it looks great.

LOVE the first idea !!

I do love the first pic best but please keep in mind the dimensions of your room, the room in pic 1 is quite large with a big picture window. It appears your room is smaller with a lower ceiling and you have the bed in front of the window. I think pic 2 would actually suit better in regards to the white linen, bedsides and trim to lift the room. I love the colour you have chosen and the bed is gorgeous. Great job so far. Make sure you post the finished product for us.

I think mainly because of the dimensions of your room that no.2 is your best option. I just think there is too much contrast where your celing meets the wall but not enough to make the room. The room in the first option is so much larger and the volume is so much greater its better able to handle the sharp contrast. It seems that in front of the window is the only option for the bed placement so you don't have the "Bam" (excuse the quote please) of the white of the bed against the starkness of the dark brown and I think that's where the main appeal of that option is.

Carolannr, That has been my dilemma, the other view of that room in option 1 is HUGE! with a large picture window.. But the picture that I have shown is just a little nook of that room.
I have gotten so many replies that people love option 1 that I'm going to go ahead and finish with that look, But hey if it doesn't work out then it's just a matter of changing paint color and linens to achieve the other look in picture 2.
I would urge everyone to click on both pictures and then click more info too see the other photos of those same rooms.

I can't wait to see if it steps it up a notch ;-)

Ok ok ok... so I changed it a little, I wanted to add some color so curtains seemed to do the trick also adding a throw and pillow to pull the color to the other side of the room gave it more interest I think.
