Interesting corner, for sure! You definitely need a vertical piece, such as a tall bookshelf. I would place it in the wall below the windows (not in the corner), and don't worry about the Emmy space above it. The bookcase will keep your focus on the human level of your living space!

You could fill the space with framed art, or a big mirror with tall sconces on each side, or put your TV in a tall armoire to help draw your eye upwards some. The wall looks so big as the pieces in this space are so close to the ground.

Eight feet up from the floor, draw a line all around the room, then add a 1"x4" horizontal trim board -- finished, either stained or painted beforehand -- above that. You've just visually shrunk the space you "need" to fill with a new cabinet.

You could even consider painting the wall below the horizontal board a slightly darker color than the color above.

Make your own sets -- plural -- of tall bookshelves primarily using 1"x8"x8' shelving boards for the verticals and 1"x8"x6' shelving boards cut in half for the shelves.

If you're going to put a lot of weight on anything other than the bottom shelves, you may need to add a board to support the center of the 3' span.

Invest in renting or buying a nail gun that shoots 2" finishing nails and put them together and finish or paint them before putting them in place, including the baseboard trim.

Stand the individual bookshelves in a row along the wall behind the tv and hook them to each other and to the wall. The bookshelf where the television is to be located would need a taller shelf about waist high to accommodate the television.

You'll need to accommodate the baseboard as you create a base for the bookshelves with two 2"x4" boards parallel to the wall to on which you'll set and to which you'll attach the bookshelves. You'll need to add the same kind of baseboard trim board to the front of these bookshelves as you've used for your wall.

You can add doors to the lower shelves IF you build all the shelving sets with a shelf at exactly the same height as the shelf on which you are going to put the tv, then you can add a horizontal trim board to that shelf all across the shelving sets at that height and another horizontal trim board at the bottom of the shelving sets before you add the baseboard trim board and then add then add a vertical trim board on the doubled vertical boards where the shelving sets meet. IF you want to do this, you will also NEED to double the vertical board on both the far left and far right of the row of shelving sets to accommodate that vertical board on which you'll be adding hinges for the doors.

Some people rather than adding a back to such shelves paint the wall in front of where they'll be put a bold color but leave the boards themselves with a natural wood finish or paint them white or a lighter color for contrast.

I'm kinda with suezbell but I'd go 9'4 or 10ish and 2 tone it. Id do a dark down low for warmth but either way will cut it down nicely

You do not even need to add the trim to divide the room. Just decorate at eye level and leave the lovely tall ceiling to be itself.
I lovely book case and a piece of art beside it are all you really need.

Or, a narrow table/console with the art above it would also work. Whichever you choose, do not feel as if you need to fill the entire wall. Just keep the focus down at the human level and you are all good.

If it's an outside wall and you can afford it, you could add a large picture window.

HI -- Don't worry about the space above the 8 foot level .

A really tall vase with branches, or a fake palm tree (fake palms are most realistic), with an up light (found at any big box store) behind it. The issue is that the corner is dark. Add some art to one side, placed so that the palm doesn't interfere with it.

You don't need to worry about "decorating" that whole wall. Treat it as if it was not tall but average height. Add a couple of chairs and a floor lamp or a small table in between chairs for reading. Looks like you need seating more than book shelves that can become cluttered quickly plus the dilemma "what can I put on these shelves?"

I have seen such rooms divided into a first floor and second floor to make better use of the space and probably save on heating and cooling costs. I would suggest windows for both stories, and perhaps the small windows already installed could serve as transoms for the new second-story windows.

Could look so beautiful with a long staggering multi pendant chandelier.

Did you just move in? Adding more photos of the surrounding space would really help. Adding layered light, table lamps and floor lamps will help add a warmer feel.

I like this photo, you wouldn't know the end wall ceilings are high because the focus is keeping a human height scale. You can do the same.

Only the drapes and the chandelier are up at the ceiling, everything else is a relatively normal height.

This room would feel cozy at night, great lighting. The artwork up high is bold enough to see from any vantage point in the entire open space.
