From your pics you do not have the space for a free standing tub if you have a bathroom with a tub in the house then I would go with an awesome shower keeping in mind the window will have to be addressed as it will now be in the shower if you send a detailed floor plan maybe so ideas will come.

I think it would look more luxurious with just the shower, because you'll have more space, plus you do have a tub elsewhere. I think for resale, most buyers with kids like a tub near their room, versus having to have another in the master. Personally, I also find tubs a hassle to clean and rarely take soaks.

It's major! I would go outdoors, and look at the outside of your house, ask if you can live with a much narrower bath window, match/ replace siding etc if that is done.........increase the shower, ditch the idea of any tub whatsoever. Yes it's major, and worth it probably.

my sister took out her tub and went with a huge shower.. she also had to deal with a window. her contractor tiled everything even around the window. changing out the window for something smaller closer to the ceiling; hers actually opens. but if u are keeping that window maybe block glass that doesnt open ..but adds light would work for u.

Yes we have been researching a lot about the window and are aware of the work needed to do that! Our main concern is the space and I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing that it would be cramped. I do understand the appeal of having both a shower and tub but in this case I think the cramped-ness would take away from the bathroom as a whole. Thank you for your input!

I have that same dilemma. As a matter of fact, your master bathroom looks just like mine.

I would keep the tub and upgrade everything. These big showers are a pain for housekeeping.

We moved into an old/new to us home with a masterbath that has a large shower that replaced the tub. We love it and I don't think cleaning it is any more trouble than cleaning a regular size shower . Since your house has another full bathroom, and this is the master...go for it.

we put a 4x8' shower in our bathroom, its simply amazing. if you put an awning style window at the top of your opening, and fill below, you wont even need to change out the header which is a saving.

i cant overstate the joy of tag team showering, especially coming home from the beach and you both want to 'go first'.

We also have a 4x8 shower, no tub, and it is amazing! Rain and hand held shower heads, no door, no threshold, easy to keep clean. No tub in the house, but our development attracts seniors who won't miss the tub.

Could the shower be enlarged along the wall it is on without disturbing the window? This would allow a much longer space for double sinks on the vanity wall...which is even a better plus for most future buyers..and still allow for the natural light and openness that a window offers...there would be no serious window issues other than maybe raising it enough to allow for vanity height...it is also possible your present plan may be overkill on the size of the shower...it looks like the proportions would be off ...too long and narrow visually....with lots of expensive tiling on space you won't really be using...

Another comment on shower style ..to many people it seems old fashioned to use shower curtains...my view is the glass surrounds are a huge job to keep clean and in small baths I always feel they are a little scary safety wise...if you close it all in your bath feels dinky....if it curved and open on two sides or closed on only one end with a half wall it will all be open when not in use making your bath feel so much roomier and open....shower curtains are also a nice easily changeable decorative and color element...perhaps allowing for a simpler less expensive tile choice..

I'm with ritasj. I'd like to see you get two sinks in there. Much better for resale. Then you can increase the shower size a bit by reducing the window size. Since you have a tub in another bathroom, it will be fine to not have one here for resale.
