OK, who's gonna be the first one to solve this problem? I have a window in my family room 142 inches tall and 151 inches wide. Right now I have wood shutters on the windows and simple side panels on each side. I want to take the shutters off, to allow for more light, and add just some simple sheers that can be closed completely when the sun hits the back of the house. The problem, the wood pole that is now up is attached at the edges of the window and then with two brackets approx 2 feet from the side brackets, so no center bracket. I'll have to move the pole up approx 6 inches, and add a center bracket, but I don't think the pole will hold the weight of the sheers and side panels with just a center bracket. I'm having a hard time finding a pole that extends to 151 inches. I'd love to be able to us the existing pole and add a second pole for the sheers, just not sure a center bracket will hold the weight. I was thinking I could drill into the current wood pole and insert a steel rod to add strength to the center and then get a double bracket, a smaller wood pole for the sheers and be done. I've attached a picture so that hopefully you can understand the problem. I'm trying to avoid buying a new pole, etc because I'm having to spend $$$ on fabric for sheers, 27 yards! Yikes!! And, I don't HAVE to do this, just want to for more light! So, any help or ideas would really be appreciated!
