Is the ottoman black or brown?

Dependent on how much seating is dedicated to viewing, chairs angled in from the fireplace would give balance to a sofa. My personal preference would be for a chaise lounge, though, as it provides additional seating that keeps the view open ( and dedicates a place for your husband to lie back). Placed where your sofa is now, you could still add a pair of chairs opposite to complete the conversational grouping. Again, if all seats are dedicated to viewing, consider swivel options on the pair.

I like the option of swivel seats! No matter where we place them in the FR. I always think putting chairs in front of a fireplace when the TV is above is becomes a problem for viewing when the TV is on, people are craning their necks or feel left out, LOL!

Ok, so I have started thinking about this project again.. what about to separate chaise chairs facing the fireplace/tv and then some swivel chairs closer to the fireplace?

Perhaps sharing an image from one of our design will help you get even further?

May, if you would post the dimensions of the room, I would be happy to do an arrangement for you. I will plug in the furniture for size and we can go from there on the actual colors and styles.

Two chaise lounges opp. eachother doesn't sound optimal for guests. What about this arrangement appeals to you?

The size of the space is basically 18x18 of living room,

Fireplace on West wall, Large bank of windows on North wall, Double french doors on East wall and then kitchen and eating bar area is open to the Living room on the West side of the house.

I like this look but don't know if I should put book cases in front of MY windows and block the view.

Also if I put them on the sides, they can only go up to approx 65 inches high because of the sconces, and those are hard to find ;)

If you don't like your room cluttered with furniture, definitely do not put in shelving units in front of windows or anywhere else in the room. Your room already has a lot of visual interest: the beams, windows with a lot of detail and character, wall sconces, the fireplace...

I would just focus on seating pieces and a new rug for now. You can also add more elements later if you feel the need.

My LR dimensions are basically 20 long by 16.5 with a fireplace on the one end (west)of the 16.5 wall and double glass doors on the other end (east), wall of windows on the north side, open to kitchen on the south side .

May, just off to bed. I'll work on this in am. Been awhile, thought you had resolved everything. :>)
