Guest Bath Remodel (on a tight budget)

Pink tile and teal, eggplant and black "southwestern-themed" wallpaper dominated this bathroom in an MCM ranch. Aside from the obvious aesthetic updates, we also: re-swung, moved, then re-framed the door to align with the window (a major source of light and air for the hallway); updated all plumbing; insulated and waterproofed the dickens out of everything; removed the heat vent; replaced all drywall; installed new electrical to code (in fact, everything is up to code now); removed stucco on the exterior wall (sheared wall and replaced paper and is now ready for stucco guy).

What you can't see in the photos is the smell of the old vanity (I do. not. know. what it was), the dixie cup holder - remember those?! and the mildew that accumulated on the walls and window where the curtain (?!) was. We also got rid of the niche that the toilet was in (behind the door in the before photo), and actually made this guest bath smaller. I'll be using that additional bit of space in the master bath, thank you. ;)

Did you have a question or concern? If not you might want to post in Before/After instead. Really great job! Looks nice and clean and modern.

soosun - d'oh! Thank you - yes, I thought I'd posted in Before and after. I'll try to move this over there...

dixieduckcanvas - right? I think I bought this house despite itself, lol.

Nicely done! I like the little niche, very useful. Will you be putting a shower curtain?

Method dries out my hands terribly (if used over a long period of time), but smells nice. Bummer :(

Yes, a shower curtain will go in. I'm just trying to find the right one (something with super clean lines that will make sense with the rest of the accessories, but not cost me my dog).

Great job! I love the floor. What was your budget?

myhansons -- my budget was $7k for everything. I was originally hoping to keep it under $5k, but the replacement of all plumbing and getting the exterior wall re-stuccoed put a kabosh on that.

Wow! You did a great job. It's good that you showed the reality of your remodel on a budget. Most of us are on a budget and aren't professionals but we want our homes to be just as beautiful as the pictures we see here on Houzz!
