This is the table I got but haven't yet decided on the chairs . Also yes that room is a bit darker because of the sunroom. My husband said he can wire a chandelier there

Instead of a hutch, I would look at credenzas and hang some nice art of it. Also invest in a rug for the area and definitely hang a chandelier. Is this the regular eating space for the family? Have you an idea of what chairs you might like? All wood? upholstery? leather?

I think the table is too small for the space and is contributing to that area appearing less homey because it's small size makes it feel more isolated/disconnected from the kitchen. I would forego a hutch or console and instead get a larger table, a good-sized chandelier, and good-sized artwork for the far wall.

Put an area rug down. The ceiling is also dark, perhaps a lighter color? The table and chairs are very traditional, try using cloth chairs - more modern with the table. I'd also probably put a cute table cloth on it. Make it look inviting and not sterile.

HI -- I disagree on a rug -- I don't think a rug is necessary for an everyday dining area . I like that #4 picture hutch too. Restoration Hardware has similar and also chairs that will work with the table . I could also see having a settee sofa on that wall . When needed then the table could be pushed to the sofa for more seating around at the table . Look for adjustable lighting fixture for over the table area or use floor lamps for more lighting and have them on dimmers . The table you chose looks nice but you do have room for a bigger expandable dining table .

Thank u for all the comments. I don't think the table is that small for that space . It's 4 feet wide . There is also a peninsula with the bar chairs . If I got a bigger table then it will feel like I have tables all over the house . I also have another area in the home where formal dinning table will go . This is just a quick sit down eating area. And where the kids do homework . I definitely think I need a Buffet/sideboard of some source. I would like to keep kids craft item there too. Make this room (space) multi- use. Rug will come after I figure out everything else . The ceiling is white , the photos turned out darker then actual lighting . Those are the chairs im thinking with that lighter table . Haven't yet decided .

I think once we find something for that wall . A piece of hutch/buffet it will make it look smaller . I don't think a couch would fit . Maybe a bench . There is 5 of us, was thinking maybe it's big enough ? The current table in the photo is same size as the one i bought at world market . I also have to leave room to walk thru into that hall way . & front door . As far as rug, we shall see . Yes my kids can get pretty messy . Definitely a rug under formal dinning table

Ha, Susan beat me to it. I was going to say a buffet with a large framed vintage food or wine poster(s) above to bring some fun and interest to the big wall. Center the buffet on the wall.

Add a live tree in the corner by the window.

I love to add "up" lighting in the corner behind the plant--looks cool at night.

I have a much smaller space than you do, but I also have a round dining table, and I'm thinking about putting in a pub mirror with a bar cabinet underneath along one wall.

A beautiful chandelier over the dining table can add a lot of life to the space.
