What would you bring?

You're going on an extended working vacation where you need to do your own laundry. You will have access to a front load machine. You have no time to shop before you leave.

You can only pack ONE bottle or box of laundry detergent for the trip.

What is the 1 detergent you would be satisfied using for a few months?

I HAVE TO CHOOSE JUST ONE?

Yes. Just 1. And I'm going to tally the results & buy what ever the winner is for my laundry detergent. So far I'm lost on Mexican Ariel. Never heard of it, where does one find that?

Paw do you have any Mexican grocery stores in the area? Google it there could be one..that's where you would find Ariel..don't buy the Ariel in walmart and dollar stores..that's a different animal.

Pawprint:You mean to use as your detergent at home or you are really going to take a trip?? I take you mean at home but I'm not sure.

Yes. For me to use at home. I just made up a fake scenario to see what everyone would choose for a detergent if there was only 1 choice.

For something to get everyone's seal of approval on means it's good stuff & I should try it.

Yes there is a Mexican grocery store about 3 miles away. I'll check it out today.

Good luck Paw...if possiable take pics of the detergent isle lol

Mexican Ariel in a FRONT LOADER Mama & Jean? Wouldn't that be a suds and rinsing nightmare???

Well...yes it would be..I'm bad not thinking..however I know people that have great results ...

Paw, you will have to use this in your traditional top loader, which I'm sure you will see the there's no HE on the bag, but that being said if your lucky there is a Mexican Ariel formulated for FL'ers I can't remember what its called Ariel something...Paw if you buy the Ariel just use it in your traditional. .you will enjoy it.

Regular Ariel is fine, even in a Miele Touchtronic ;) You've just got to use a reduced dose. I use 3 Tablespoons, and no more. And occasionally, I'll add some Sodium Percarbonate.

Any more Ariel, and your pushing it. But... the stuff, is AMAZING for washing up Whites. Really. :-)

It does out-clean... Persil Megapearls, and Persil Universal Gel. As for Tide with Bleach, it's really almost as good. Although, if I had to quickly decide between all of them, I would grab the Mexican Bag ;)

Persil Universal Gel, is wonderful though for washing sheets :)

I can't think of any detergent that I've used that's better than Mexican Ariel, even the Tide Bleach that I LOVE, would fall short if I added sodium percarbonate to the Ariel. Larsi..in my Queen Ariel will suds up if I overdose, but not a problem otherwise. I know there's people that use it in FL machines with no problems, I guess it all has to do with careful measuring.

For people with skin and fragrance sensitivities, I'm taking the All free and clear, better than Dreft in my opinion.

I'm still not sure what all I bought since I don't read Spanish.

Poppy, Dreft would not be IMO good for allergies..it reeks of perfume..and although its marketed for babies its a strong chemical laden detergent. I'm with you on All free.

There's a $2 off coupon, for Dreft Detergent & Dreft Scent Pearls, on Coupons.com. :-) Might as well pay less, if you wanna try it.

Pinky do you use the all liquid or powder? I've been taking rpsinfoman's tips to improve my FL performance. The powder did work better for the heavy towels, but the powdered all I saw at target was all lumpy. Does that make a difference? Afraid I can't buy it if it makes me sneeze.

Poppy the Powder All has enzymes, I don't think the liquid does..I use the powder just for the boys and any towels or family room pillows they come in close contact with. Sparky suggested it awhile back and its really very good.

Thanks Pinky. I've used the liquid for 2+ years because it did dissolve easily. Results have been good for us with the chemical sensitivities, but dosage has been hard for big items in hot water. One tbl spoon with 1 tbl of borax on the drum and it is suds city. I wasn't wild about the Persils ensitive; stains not gone. The arm and hammer with oxy has been a surprise, but needs 3 rinses. Not exactly resource saving. I'll take a look at the all powder. Tks.

Poppy I have overdosed with the powder, but first rinse was completely clear..I seem to overdose once in awhile lol

I agree about the Mexico Ariel dosing, that took awhile to get right. I may try it in my Grandma's FL sometime. I just think it's the best degergent EVER. Mitch and Mama saying so is even better. LOL!
