Will the landlord let you paint it? If it looks really bad, you'd actually be doing him a favor by painting it a decent color. Please post pics so we can see what you're talking about. It sounds like a warm color, so a warm color will go with it - off-white, brown, olive green, cream. One thing you might do is cover it up with lots of artwork! Another way to cover it is with fabric gathered at the ceiling, or removable wallpaper.

I've tried AGAIN to add it to the original post and it won't allow me to for some reason. Here it is. Not sure if they'll allow me to paint, but the WHOLE house is this color, and 2,600 sq ft is a LOT of paint. Would like to try to make it work as much as possible.

NOW it worked, of course lol. Here's another pic. Same color but looks different because of the light. That's the problem - this color looks completely different in every room but it's the same color. It changes with the lighting... and it's terrible.

Hi---I recommend speaking to your landlord about changing the color. I would tell him/her that the color is too pinky peach and too close in color to the carpet---it's just very limiting. Check Benjamin Moore's Muslin and Everlasting for new wall color---might be best to gather the charts and present them to your landlord when discussing the issue. Hope this is helpful. Good Luck!

When you get your furnishings in, I don't think it will look that pink. It's a very neutral palette that will compliment most colors.

The paint is fresh - which is why I don't think he'll let me paint it. There is a half bath with lavender walls (odd) and the whole kitchen/fireplace room is a pale yellow, but because of the lighting you can't even tell for part of the day (the room behind the wall with the cutout is the pale yellow room). The problem is, initially I thought it was neutral, but it's really not It gets very pinkish in shadowy parts of the house. And, pink/rose is one of my least fav colors.

My furnishings are champagne colored couch and natural dark wood bookcases, end tables, with a mustard yellow dresser as a sofa table and turquoise accents like throw pillows, curtains, and an MCM lamp.

How long is your lease? Is this a long term rental? To have a 2,600 sq. ft house professionally painted would be a few thousand dollars. If you are staying more than a year, may be worth it. You could offer to have it professionally repainted when your lease is up. As a landlord, I would want it looking as good when you move out as when you move in, except for the normal wear and tear of daily living. You could ask to paint, but he is under no obligation to let you, if you signed a lease as it is now, with nothing in writing about the paint.

I have yet to sign the lease so I don't know what it says in there about paint, but I would never repaint the whole house - too expensive for a rental. I'm ok with keeping it the way it is if I don't have an option... I just can't think of coordinating colors to go with it. I'm also a Type A OCD person who has done better paint jobs than a few professionals I've seen so I have no doubt the landlord would be ok with the job I did, but no, I have no intention of painting the whole house. That's just too much house to paint for one I don't own.

Oh, I thought you had said you had just rented it. If you haven't signed yet, you could have the landlord put it in the lease perhaps.

I honestly think it won't be as bad as you think. My parents' whole house was this color (rug and walls), and it disappeared behind their largely neutral decor -- I think almost nothing they ever bought didn't fit in. They had light modern furniture in one room and dark den-style furniture in another, and I don't think I ever thought about the wall color at all. Just fill the house with your furniture, art, personality, and you'll be ok.

Your furniture & accents will look half decent against the paint colour.....not sure about the mustard coloured coffee table though. Move your stuff in, live with it a bit & if you can't stand it ask your landlord permission to paint the most lived in rooms. Paint is much cheaper than buying stuff that goes with the colour you don't like. If you are absorbing the cost & choose neutral colours, can't see him/her having a problem with it.

Once you have your furniture and window covering it will change aspect , right now we are looking at an empty canvas . I would add navy to this it will bring it alive :)

SandyC. Yes, we are waiting on the financials and the lease via email. They need to prorate the rent for this month, add a pet fee, and next months rent to it as well because we'll be moving in so close to the 1st. Confirmation on the rental was made late Friday so the rest is being taken care of today and tomorrow. I wouldn't make any fuss about painting because houses in this area are rented and sold at an alarming rate. We have already missed out on a few because we wither weren't fast enough or someone offered more money and they literally told us "I know we were in the process of sending you the lease, but we changed out minds - someone else can pay more" without ever giving us a chance to counter. So I'll be happy to have this house regardless of the color - but I'm just stumped on how to make an entire house that is this color work so that every room doesn't look exactly like the next is all.

After all it's a neutral colour and will work with anything ,don't loose the opportunities to have this beautiful space to live in , fabric and art are the solution :)

Once you get your furniture in place and the drapes and art up, etc. the rooms may take on another life! Bring home pillows once you are settled and test them in the room to see how they work and then you will have a jumping off point. You could add small area rugs to break up the color as well. Turquoise, grey, black and white would cut the color and make it feel modern.
