What is the material on your floor is you don't mind my asking?

Hi Beverly. It's a 24x24 white matte porcelain tile (Snow White, from Italy, I believe) and we have a chocolate brown seagrass rug on top of that. I thought of these same vases - so that's confirming!

Thanks, Design Intervention! I could almost see a wallpaper behind our existing shelves like in the second photo you posted. It might give a nice boost of texture. I love those tall sculptural pieces - any idea where to find something like that?

I don't specifically know where those pieces in the photo came from. But anything vertical that is interesting (and dark in color) would give you the same feel. Florida has some really great Latin American artists that I'm sure have great pieces! The piece above in on Overstock.

I would like to see your desk area with a white chair instead of the black. I adore the room. Just add some taller colored glass items on the shelves. You can never have too many books, though. Some can be placed under the coffee table for guests to pick up & peruse. Agree with an oval wooden bowl on the coffee table for the remotes.

Sandra - thank you! And I agree. This is the chair that usually lives in this room but when I write for long periods I swap it out for the more ergonomic Aeron black chair. I thought about switching it for the photo this morning but was too lazy! :-)
