Need help designing and decorating a large/tall wall in Living area
The wall space that I would like to decorate is around the TV and between the light switches. We have many photos from traveling which we are trying to place. We have not sized the pictures yet. We are looking to run light under some molding which would run about 14 feet across about 5-6 inches below the air vent which would hold recessed lighting. We desperately need lighting on that side of the room. Basically the space around the TV available for the pictures (we would also like to include a couple small shelves if possible) is 34" on each side of the TV about 3 feet above the TV. Does this idea sound reasonable? If so, need help with sizing and placing pictures. We do have some panoramic scenes which we would like to include. We are open for all different sizes in the pictures. Can you help with this problem? Do you have any other suggestions? We have had this large bare wall for several years trying to figure what to do with it.

11 years agoI can't see the piece of furniture you have under the TV but I'm wondering if rather than the recessed lighting, which might break up your wall, you could consider a standing floor lamp to the side of your furniture or a lamp next to the TV like in the photos below. Then add another lamp in another spot in the room for brightness. For your artwork, if you do a lamp on one side you could do an arrangement of art on the other side.

OMG - Thank you for such a quick response. The pictures are dark but you can see there is a console under the TV (54" long), TV is mounted on the wall. We can swivel the TV to the right which is into the dining & kitchen area( open area). Sound box under neath. A rocker on left side of the stand and then a door to the outside back patio. There is some traffic in and out of the door so a light on the floor not a good idea. With the TV swivel we did not want to have anything on the right side that might obstruct the view. I do like the pictures placed around the TV on
2nd picture but looking for more up the wall. The total wall height up to a loft area is probably 22 Ft starting at the door level of 9 Ft so it is a tall wall.

This may not be in your budget and might impede traffic flow, but a wider console could be nice. It could allow you to put a lamp on its left side with artwork on both sides like in the first picture (your lamp would be in front of the art). I would suggest having something decorative on your console, like in the first picture so it doesn't feel static. And like in the first picture, perhaps pull your chair forward. If you don't do a lamp next to or on your console, how about a pharmacy type reading lamp next to the couch by the door?
