If you decide to do the sign, I would suggest it be painted to look like a ruin............something faded out like it's been there for decades. A more artistic statement.

Thanks so much for the ideas! You're right in that a giant see rock city isn't quite right but something weathered or like the black metal one could work. Where would you look to find one? I've tried attaching another photo of the house but the app on my cell won't let me. Will try once I get to my computer. As I live in Atlanta, a weathered Coke sign would be kinda fun.

HI -- If you put mirror on it ... it will disappear ! Let vines grow on it by attaching chicken wire or trellis . Find a graffiti artist to paint on it . Or some craft painters could paint it with flowers etc. Cover it with old window frames . See if you can find a salvage yard that has old advertising or old sign letters . The trick is to make it fun and cute without it turning out tacky.

Maureen is right. You don't want to make the shed stand out. If it was a big barn in the middle of a pasture that would be different. You might be able to make it look cute but it might also end up looking junky. You have such a pretty backyard. The shed would look better with lattice all around the bottom to hide the blocks and make it look more finished.

It took some time to get this tree as it was not readily available but we ended up putting a coral bark tree in the space in front which will provide color and fill in the space. My husband is going to cover the open space by putting white trellis on hinges -- that was a great idea as we can still access the space underneath for ladders and such.
